La Renclusa Refuge
2,138 mThe guardian of Pico Aneto
Shower, breakfast, and blankets
Located in the Benasque valley, at the foot of Massif of the Maladetas and the peak of Aneto (the highest peak in the Pyrenees), this is one of the mountaineering places par excellence. This circumstance is reflected in the fact that already in 1916 the Excursionist Center of Catalonia built here a sheltered shelter.
At present, it is congested by this entity and the Aragonese Mountaineering Federation. The Renclusa It continues to provide a magnificent service to mountaineers and, although its appearance has changed, it maintains a faithful mountaineering tradition.
How to get
Access to the Renclusa refuge is from Benasque (1,138m) along the A-139 road that goes up the Ésera valley, leaving the detours to Cerler on the right, first, and later that of Baños de Benasque.
11km further up from Benasque we will leave the road and take a narrow asphalt track to the right towards the Hospital Plan, where there is a hotel (the old Benasque Hospital).
In summer the access is closed to vehicles, having to leave it in the authorized parking lot and take the bus that takes us to La Besurta there (16km from Benasque); or access from Benasque by bus as well.
From here we must continue on foot along a well-indicated path that climbs in a zigzag along the right bank of the Renclusa ravine, to the refuge (2,140m - 35min).
From the Val d'Aran it is accessed through the Artiga de Lin valley, through the Port dera Picada (5h).
